Moving, inspiring 'Flags' is a must-see at the 
Napa Valley Museum

Rarely does a collection of art in one exhibit deserve a second article... 

...Two pieces by one of the several husband-and-wife teams that entered separate works of art in the show are particularly impressive.

Lisa Splendid Jacklich's twin towers are metal works impressive in their size and the message they convey to the viewer. Jacklich left part of the two towers, which stand opposite one another as did their real life counterparts, rusted and coarse while the rest of the piece is polished to a high sheen. Small stars, cut from the base of the two towers, rest at the foot of the building, representing a metaphorical bloodletting that speaks of the true horror that befell the two New York icons.

Her husband, Jeff, chose to paint an overlaid version of an American flag with holes burnt into it from a smoldering fire. Flames consume the upper flag's body in curling flame cut slits, while underneath is yet another twin version of Old Glory, representing the spirit of American democracy as an inviolate entity, scarred, but not destroyed, by the attack on Sept. 11...

Roll out the barrels

Given a wine barrel, most of us would opt to fill it with a. wine; b. tomato plants or maybe c. petunias. This is probably why we're not artists.

What happens when you give 25 wine barrels to 25 artists and tell them to do something with it is another matter entirely; and the results have been unveiled as this year's wine auction art project, called Barrel Art Napa Valley...READ ENTIRE ARTICLE...

Napa residents Jeff Jacklich and Lisa Splendid Jacklich specialize in dramatic metal arts.  Jeff Jacklich and Lisa Splendid Jacklich are local artists here in the Napa Valley. Known as masters in the use of power tools, torches and welders, the artists specialize in the metal arts. For this show Lisa and Jeff have each created three unique bodies of work. Jeff specializes in Spirits of Steel, Fire Cut Forms and Whimsical Creatures. Lisa's work includes Fire Painted Copper, Abstract Tapestries and Mixed Metal Sculptures.
